Pay stubs by state
State income tax changes take-home pay significantly. These pages show how the math works where you work.
Need a document this tool doesn't make?
PayStubGenerator does one thing: W-2 employee pay stubs. For everything else, these are ours too.
W-2 forms, 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC, and payroll documents for a whole team. If you are a 1099 contractor rather than a W-2 employee, an earnings statement is usually the wrong document — start there instead.
Over 90 business and legal documents — bills of sale, invoices, contractor agreements, NDAs, lease agreements, demand letters and more, with the same live preview and instant PDF.
Pay stub generator questions
Is this pay stub generator really free?
Yes. You can create a pay stub, preview it live, and download the PDF for free using either free template. There is no account, no email requirement, no card, and no watermark on the downloaded file.
What costs money then?
Two optional things, both one-time charges and neither a subscription. A premium design on a single pay stub is $4.99. Multiple consecutive pay stubs in one PDF are $9.99 for the first and $5.00 for each additional, up to 12 — so six stubs is $34.99, well under the $45.54 the closest competitor charges for the same six.
Are the tax calculations accurate?
The generator uses current federal tax brackets with the standard deduction, Social Security up to the annual wage base, Medicare including the additional rate above $200,000, and per-state income tax rates and brackets for all 50 states and DC. It is an accurate estimate for a standard W-2 employee, but it is not payroll or tax advice, and it does not model every local tax, benefit deduction, or pre-tax election.
What is a multi-period bundle for?
Lenders, landlords, and apartment applications usually ask for two to six recent pay stubs rather than one. A bundle generates consecutive pay periods in a single PDF and rolls the year-to-date totals forward across them correctly, including Social Security stopping at the annual wage base.
Do you store my information?
Free pay stubs are generated and returned without anything being saved to our database. Details are stored only when you buy a premium design or a bundle, because we need them to rebuild your PDF and email your copy.
Can I use this if I am self-employed?
This tool produces a W-2 style employee earnings statement. If you are a 1099 contractor, an earnings statement is generally not the right document — our sister site JustPayStubs.com covers 1099 and W-2 forms.
